Fall Schedule

Fall consists largely of analysis and design finishing with some digital assembly. At least 12 analysis must be completed during the fall quarter of the chassis and suspension system. These analysis include shock tower, chassis, and shock dimensions, and the spring constant of the shocks. Deflection of the shock tower and the chassis base plate, as well as the stress risers throughout the components.

Documentation of the components is completed during the fall quarter through the Solidworks modeling software that includes part dimensions and the ability to model a completed assembly of the chassis and shock system that must be completed before the material assembly is started.

Proposal/report writing is another form of progress documentation that takes place during the fall quarter that allows for a proper layout and presentation of the project and its detailed development over time. It includes all analysis and documentation previously completed with important components of the process like budget, scheduling and many other important steps of the engineering process that allow for a complete display of engineering abilities.

Winter Schedule

The winter schedule focus on the manufacturing process of the project completing all the parts and construction required to reach the testing phase in spring. Part construction consumes most of the quarter with different manufacturing process taking time to achieve the desired precision with each part in order to completed the final construction with ease.

Spring Schedule

Spring quarter being the final section of the project will revolve around testing and presentation of devices. Testing includes the competitive and structural tests along with the project specifications. This will conclude the development of the project and require a final presentation, report, and website to document the engineering process used in this project.

Total project cost is estimated to be around $3656.84 including labor, parts, and shipping. Shocks account for the only readymade cost of shipping and parts while labor contributes to a majority of a cost. When referring to the average hourly wage, the price of $31 an hour for an estimated 25 hours of manufacturing will be required by the designer to complete the manufacturing of the chassis and suspension system. This comes after the design process which costs $27 per hour for a total of 88 hours. Parts cost comes from the raw material used for manufacturing of parts which comes out to $164.84 after donations and will not require any outsourcing.
